Nelda Graewyth is tired, broken and cold after being rescued from the cardinal’s monks. Although Frayne is certain she should be getting better, she seems to be getting worse. Did the men she was so sure were trying to steal her magic, find a way to do just that?

Frayne is certain that other than the family he has created for himself, no one can be trusted. The queen wants his mother gone, the Circle want the witches dead and he has no real idea what the King wants.

As the castle is plunged into an unnatural night, something dark and magical puts everyone inside at risk. If someone found a way to steal magic, what might they do with it and to anyone trying to stop them?
